Matthew just told me few days ago that he hasn't seen me around in the hall and I've been quite a phantom.
In my opinion, I'm in hall most of the time, I room hop and wander about but I haven't been seeing him around. Hence, I shot the term back at him "hah, phantom"
But what does it really mean? Isn't it just a matter of perception? Subjects aside, He thinks that I'm a phantom only because I'm not involved in the activities that he's in (DnD/slacking in lounge) yet, I do participate in hall activities (SP, only, hahahahhah shit this is not a good case, slacking in room). We call people like Wen Jun phantoms in hall because they're putting more focus on their home faculties as compared to hall. But what about this?
Okay, let me emphasize my point by creating 2 fictional characters: Kent and Ridge. Kent is an arty farty boy with the designer cap who dances, sings, and plays the drum (weeee). He practically stays in the hall, going for dance 2wice a week, singing 3rice a week and having band practices 3rice a week. Besides breakfast and dinner, we seldom see him around. i.e Phantom
Ridge is a sports player and plays floorball, rugby, basketball, (no soccer bc he thinks it's pointless), volleyball and swims. Training x2wice a week = 10 days used up per week. He da baos breakfast/dinner and no one sees him around but his teamates. i.e. Phantom
okay next, Sheares is a committee person, who is in the block com. He's in the lounge 24/7 and everyone sees him around bc the lounge is at lvl 4 short wing etc etc. Even though the block com is the only hall activity he's involved in, he's not labeled "phantom"
whyyyyy like that. Just because your face doesn't show up much doesn't mean that you're a phantom right. I can be busy with many other stuff for the hall and hence I don't meet you. This may be due to the difference in social circle/commitments but I can't be just deemed as a phantom because of our mismatch in interest.
I guess you can just say that one is phantom of the block, phantom of the cca, phantom of the level etc etc but as long as s/he is participating in activities of the hall, it doesn't make much sense to say that s/he is a phantom, without referring to the context. i.e. Kent is phantom of the sports scene and Ridge is phantom of the arts scene.
Okay I lost my interest in this topic already hahahha. Just remember that the term Phantom is merely a point of view. If I'm a phantom in your life, chances are that you are in mine too!
I'm not like referring to anyone in specific btw, it's just random harmless thoughts popping into my retarding mind. okay kiss kiss, hope DnD went fine, I hope Likron wins :D
